Koty was one of my first, I took her in 9 years ago to find her a good home. The First Photo is of Koty and Gracie. Gracie is the second photo, a Dachshund Chihuahua mix. Next was another Dachshund I rescued.
UPDATE March 09. Meet my latest rescue..she was dropped off here about 8 pm last night. She seems pretty healthy ,a little underweight..happy, great personality. As a hunter she is wowed by the pigs, ducks etc roaming the place. Her story seems that she was maintained, but raised by someone with hunting dogs and she stayed tied to a tree 24/7. Her shots etc, even flea control are UTD, but I always segregate and give my own dose b4 they get around my dogs. Her owner worked at a feed store but a Friend, that knew I love Basset's, asked what he intended doing with her...and here she is. He called her Jasmine,...but I think it will be changed to Bluebelle... oh and she does have the solid black ears which are rare. The young pair of Shih Tzus were surrendered. Bear and Juleigh . They are about breeding age now. Not sure what I am going to do with them but the people needed to re-home them so I took them in.Juleigh is very small and chocolate colored.
Some I place, find good homes for them, some I fall in love with and can't part with..(want to send money for food?,lol)
a super tiny male chihuahua. His name is Zorro and when I got him I could almost close my hand over him he was so small. He will stay around 3 lbs I imagine.I'm not even a fan of Chihuahuas but he won me over and sleeps on my bed.
MAJOR KLEENEX ALERT: ONE BY ONE ... One by One, they pass by my cage, Too old, too worn, too broken, no way. Way past her time, she can't run and play. Then they shake their heads slowly and go on their way. A little old lady, arthritic and sore, It seems I am not wanted anymore. I once had a home, I once had a bed, A place that was warm, and where I was fed. Now my muzzle is grey, and my eyes slowly fail. Who wants a dog so old and so frail? My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way, my attitude was wrong. Whatever excuse they made in their head, Can't justify how they left me for dead. Now I sit in this cage, where day after day, The younger dogs get adopted away. When I had almost come to the end of my rope, You saw my face, and I finally had hope. You saw thru the grey, and the legs bent with age, And felt I still had life beyond this cage. You took me home, gave me food and a bed, And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head. We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, You love me so dearly, you want me to know. I may have lived most of my life with another, But you outshine them with a love so much stronger. And I promise to return all the love I can give, To you, my dear person, as long as I live. I may be with you for a week, or for years, We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears. And when the time comes that God deems I must leave, I know you will cry and your heart ... it will grieve. And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, My thoughts and my heart will still be with you. And I will brag to all who will hear, Of the person who made my last days so dear. by Leslie Whalen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A quote from a prospective buyer: Ciao Becky!
